PROPOSED LEGISLATION COULD UPSET APPLECART

Based on four research reports on atypical employment, both the labour movement and Government favour increased legislation of the flexible employment industry, citing alleged abuses of atypical employment arrangements.

Louis Breckenridge, executive director of the labour broking division of the Constructional Engineering Association (CEA-LBD), says some of the recommendations include a requirement that all labour brokers register annually with the Department of Labour, while holding clients responsible for all legal obligations should they use a non-registered broker.
